You’re killing me! The trip looks and sounds amazing! We’ll see, maybe I’ll decide to be very irresponsible again;) I’ll do my taxes this weekend and see how I can squeeze it in my budget.

Farrah Utroska says:
The trip will be a blast! A group of us went to Playa Del Carmen last year & had a great time! Playa (as the locals call it) is definitely a place I want to go back and visit again!

I would highly recommend the Tulum Xtreme excursion that includes: snorkeling in the cenotes, rapealing, zip lining through the jungle, and a tour of the Mayan Ruins at Tulum. It was a lot of fun and included so much in one excursion!

Dana Ausbrooks (Not a TG member) says:
I am excited to hear about the trip to Playa Del Carmen! I spent a month traveling throughout the Yucatan and Guatemala visiting the Mayan ruins. If you haven’t been to any of the Mayan ruins – they are absolutely breathtaking! Since we’re staying in Playa Del Carmen, I’m assuming you have Tulum and Chichen Itza on the agenda to visit? Both of these sites are fabulous and Tulum is just minutes from Playa. I would also encourage you to try to include the ruins of Uxmal in your plans as well. Uxmal isn’t as easily accessible as Chichen Itza but definitely worth the trouble to visit.

We are definitely going to offer our group some “optional” tours to explore the different areas of the Mayan Riviera. The Tulum Xtreme Excursion looks like a good one for TG! This tour will include snorkeling, rappelling, zip lining through the jungle, and a tour of the Mayan Ruins at Tulum. And we’ll offer a snorkeling and Catamaran sailing tour to several coral reefs… Remember, you can customize this trip however you like, depending on what you enjoy most- since there is so much to do in this area… There will be lots of activities going on at the resort alone… but you will also have the opportunity to participate in outside excursions if you wish… Any feedback would be more than welcome!

  2. Nobe | Fri Mar 14, 08:25

This sounds awesome. Do we know if they will be providing lessons for wind surfing or if that cost extra?

  3. Michael Gabelman | Fri Mar 14, 11:45

Great Question! The hotel does offer Free Wind-surfing lessons every day at 10:00 am and their other daily lessons are free sailing lessons at noon and free introductory scuba lessons at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm in the main pool.

The Reef Playacar resort will have many organized activities going on each day… like Pool/Beach Volleyball, water aerobics, beach olympic competitions, salsa lessons, spanish lessons, bingo, bocce ball, and many other crazy pool activities…
You won’t be bored at all….

  4. Michael Gabelman | Fri Mar 14, 13:20

To the Scuba Divers… and others that would like to get PADI Scuba certified… The Reef Playacar offers a PADI-certified Dive Shop with full open water certification. FYI: The waters of the Mayan Riviera sit on the 2nd Largest Barrier Reef in the world (Australia being #1)- the MesoAmerican Barrier Reef. This barrier reef stretches from the Mayan Riviera to Belize and Honduras… and offers some of the best diving in the world!

  5. Hilary | Sat Mar 15, 18:02

    Michael,

I want to sign up for the trip, but the site will not let me. Do you know if there is an issue with the site? I need to sign up 2 of us….I dont want to miss this one.

I am very excited about this trip, what a great deal!

  8. Jodie | Wed Mar 19, 21:46

I am so looking forward to visiting this area again. I much prefer it to Cancun – the beaches are beautiful. If anyone is planning side trips or diving/snorkeling stuff, let me know. Cozumel is worth the short ferry ride from town in Playa – lots of shopping, ladies!
