PERSEID METEOR SHOWER VIEWING
When
Tuesday, August 12th at 7:30pm
Details
We will meet at the Loveless Cafe on Highway 100 at 7:30pm for a late dinner. Anyone who wants to skip dinner and just view the meteor shower can meet us in the Loveless parking lot at 9:00pm and we will caravan down the Trace to our viewing spot. Keep in mind cell phone reception is spotty out on the Natchez Trace, so be sure and have your plans firm before you leave the parking lot.
Peak viewing of the meteor shower, for those who have asked, is at 2:00 a.m. Certainly there is plenty of activity before and after that time ( early risers may be able to see some activity early Wednesday morning). At any rate, the skies should be clear, and we should have a spectacular view.
I would recommend bringing a light jacket, insect repellent and a blanket to lie on, as celestial activity is best viewed while lying down (or maybe that’s just me!)
Hope to see you all at the Loveless. If you have questions, you can call Margaret at 615.604.2590

you’ll meeting at the divide?
The group will be meeting at Loveless Parking lot for a caravan to Natchez Trace. For more information, please call Margaret at 604-2590.
I’m not sure if this is relevant, but I was just reading about this on Yahoo and noticed that the meteor shower peaked today (Tuesday) but at 2:00 am this morning…not tonight (Tues night/Wed morning). The article mentions skywatchers going out on Monday night to watch the shower.

This also said the same thing…that it peaked this morning.
