Cumberland River Compact wants to offer you a chance to paddle the Cumberland River with support right by your side.

Why

To publicize the value of rivers for recreation and provide the public with an opportunity to try out different boats, including canoes and kayaks, on a slow-moving river.

1st Annual Cumberland River Basin Boat Day
Saturday, July 12, 2008 from 9am-1pm in
Three Locations throughout the Cumberland River Basin

Whether you are experienced or never been in a boat, come out and try a selection of canoes and kayaks at three convenient locations on a lake or slow-moving river.

The three locations are:
• Percy Priest Lake – Stewart Creek Recreation Area, Smyrna
• Stone River – Manson Pike Trailhead, Murfreesboro
• Cumberland River* – Shelby Bottoms Boat Ramp, Nashville

  • Location is restricted for 12 years of age and older. The river is considered a faster moving body of water than the other two sites.
What to bring:

• Water proof shoes or old sneakers (shoes with a strong supporting back)
• Sun screen,
• And a smile!

    Is this the type of event where we could pack a picnic and perhaps a couple of beers if we wanted to?
